Take clipboards, paper and pencils to the zoo.
It can be difficult to make children slow down when visiting the zoo. They want to see as many animals as they can and fast! One way to help them slow down is to have them stop and draw the animals.
We’ve enjoyed many leisurely trips to the zoo with clipboards in hand. We’ll find a shady spot to sit in front of our favorite animals and sketch away. Afterwards we’ll compare pictures and discuss what part of the animal was hardest to capture. Everyone has their favorite animal to draw so we always stop for those.
When you get home date the drawings and put them in a binder. Add to the binder whenever you go to the zoo. It’s a great way to keep the drawings and you’ll enjoy seeing your child’s drawing skills progress over the years.
